RoHS

Advansus Commits to Comply with the RoHS Directive to Contribute to the Preservation of the Global Environment

Advansus pursues its social responsibility for global environmental preservation by committing to be compliant with the European Union's "Restriction on Use of Hazardous Substance in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" or "RoHS" directive before July 1, 2006.

Advansus promises to continually protect our environment and put our policy into practice. The satisfaction of all interested groups and protection of our environment is our top priority. To comply with RoHS, Advansus intends to restrict the use of Lead(Pb), Mercury(Hg), Cadmium(Cd), Hexavalent Chromium(Cr6+), Polybrominated biphenyls(PBB), and Polybrominated diphenyl Ethers(PBDE).

Advansus' lead-free transition roadmap includes 3 phases: Phase I—purchase lead-free equipment and designate lead-free part numbers from Oct 2004 to Feb 2005; Phase II—adjust and define production condition and project pilot-run from Mar 2005 to Jun 2005; Phase III—phase-in key suppliers and be ready to take orders on request by Jul 2005.

Advansus will work proactively with industry peers and suppliers to clarify standards and identify compatible technologies and processes to reduce hazardous substances in its manufacturing processes and products. It will be essential for Advansus' suppliers and manufacturers to understand and be compliant to the RoHS Directive. Advansus will also build up a "Green Supply Chain Platform" for supply chain management and make sure all suppliers meet the qualifications.

WEEE

Advansus pursues its social responsibility for global environmental preservation by committing to be compliant with the European Union's "Restriction on Use of Hazardous Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment" or "WEEE" Directive before Dec.31, 2006.

Advansus promises to continually protect our environment and write it into our policy. The satisfaction of all interested groups and protection of our environment

are our top priorities. To comply with the WEEE directive, Advansus' efforts are, as a first priority, the prevention of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), and in addition, the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce the disposal of waste. It also seeks to improve the environmental performance of all operators involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment, e.g. producers, distributors and consumers, and in particular those operators directly involved in the treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Advansus will work proactively with industry peers and suppliers to clarify standards and identify compatible technologies and processes to reduce "environmental impact" in its manufacturing processes and products. It will be essential for Advansus' customers to understand and be compliant with the WEEE Directive. Advansus plans to continue working on the WEEE directive towards ensuring efficient customer focused collection and environmentally sound treatment of all our products.

Advansus' major consideration when determining which products to purchase is the degree to which the product in question reduces environmental impact, and whether the companies engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of the products are taking an active stance toward environmental conservation. Advansus and our customers will comply with their rights and responsibilities as follows:

We shall stay abreast of market trends and increase our sensitivity to the marketplace through close contacts with our customers and with our industries at large.
We shall seek out the world's best practices through benchmarking in order to provide the world's best products and services.
We shall strengthen our corporate ability to provide customer value and shall reconsider all aspects of our operations from a customer viewpoint.
Before purchasing products, customers must ask factories to obey national environmental laws and regulations, eg. WEEE.
Customers must check the quality grade of each device before using it in a particular application.
When the product reaches its end of life, customers should process the product through the recycle scheme which each nation or company has set up.
